National Civics Bee®

Calling all middle school students!

Showcase your ideas and test your civics knowledge in the National Civics Bee®—it’s simple to participate! Just write a 500-word essay to get started!

If you're looking for a fun and engaging way to understand how civics impacts your daily life, this is the perfect opportunity. The business community thrives on active, informed professionals, which in turn strengthens our economy and workforce. Our continued prosperity relies on both.

Join us for the National Civics Bee®, presented by the Terrell County Chamber of Commerce with support from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. This is your chance to deepen your understanding of American democracy, demonstrate your civics knowledge, and compete for recognition and cash prizes! Share your ideas and flex your civics knowledge in the National Civics Bee®. It's easy to enter! ​Write a 500-word essay and you're in!

WHY CIVICS?

The Terrell County Chamber of Commerce is proud to participate in the National Civics Bee® because we believe that informed and engaged citizens are the foundation of a strong nation, robust economy, and thriving workforce. Our future prosperity depends on the vitality of all three. We invite our middle school students to join us in this exciting initiative, as we work to enhance civic knowledge across Georgia and celebrate the spirit of civic pride in our community.

ABOUT THE BEE
​The Terrell County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is excited to host a nonpartisan civics competition designed to inspire young Americans to actively engage in civics and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Students in grades 6th through 8th will have the opportunity to showcase their civics knowledge for a chance to earn recognition and win cash prizes. Finalists will be invited to Washington, D.C., to compete in the National Civics Bee® National Championship in the Fall of 2025.

HOW TO ENTER
Participating is simple! Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student residing in Georgia with a creative idea for using civics to improve their community is encouraged to submit an essay to participate in a local competition within the state.

The application period will open in Fall of 2024 and close in Winter of 2025. We will announce the exact application deadline soon.

Students should carefully review the Contest Rules and Essay Guide before applying through the following link:​​
